Rockies

August 26, 2011

It has been awhile since we’ve posted images from Coors Field. Often our images can be seen all over town in street banners, billboards, bus signs and newspapers. Some of them large and some small. Some cropped and some not. This blog provides the opportunity to show work that may not have made it into the mainstream. As always, thanks for looking. In the coming weeks I plan on taking the opportunity to post a more rounded out presentation of the entire season in a more creative fashion. Stay tuned.

Salt River Field at Talking Stick

March 14, 2011

They say hope springs eternal, especially during spring training. Never has that been more true than this year with the dawning of a brand spanking new facility down in Scottsdale, Arizona. As team photographers, we had an opportunity to spend some time at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick last week. Below is a small sampling of images from my edit.

Shifting Light

September 21, 2010

Seasons change. Along with the change the light moves toward different places within Coors Field creating unique backlighting and pockets of light worthy of exploring.

Jason Giambi Cover Shoot

July 21, 2010

Often portraits, especially those slated for a cover, can be well involved productions with lights, assistants, and location scouting. For the Colorado Rockies first baseman, Jason Giambi, the concept for the August cover was kept relatively simple. One light source, that being the afternoon sun and a reflector to add the fill. The editors at the magazine wanted a final image that had a black and white documentary feel while utilizing the steel beams of Coors Field as a way to describe Giambi’s strength. Keep checking back as there will be a post soon about the more complex shoots described earlier. As always, thanks for looking.

High School Baseball

July 15, 2010

Gorgeous light, sunflower seeds, cheers from behind home plate, and to top it all off used peanut shells as a scoreboard. All this packaged with photographer access that would rival the most trusting of subjects describes the Colorado Rockies sponsored Reviving Baseball in Inner City leagues or better know as RBI. There are over 200 of these Major League Baseball funded teams throughout the nation and roughly 525 kids ages 13-18 in Denver alone. This summer league comes at no cost and carries the goal of getting kids out to combat the affects of gangs and drugs within larger cities.
