Community Bike Sharing

August 30, 2010

A couple of months ago my co-worker, Steve Nowland, and I decided to shoot a quick promotional film for a local bike sharing program called B-Cycle here in Denver. We decided to go with the stop motion look and shot over 8,000 frames by the time it was all said and done. Some cameras were mounted to the bike itself while others were hand-held by Steve. We shot this in a day and pieced it together in Final Cut Pro in a couple more days. Have a look.

The Man behind the Men behind the Cameras

A great look back at Rich Clarkson’s 25 years at the helm of the Topeka Capitol Journal photo department, a period of time where many of today’s finest photojournalists entered into the profession under his tutelage.  NPR covers the unusual gathering in late July that brought together so many from TCJ’s staff for the first formal reunion in over three decades. http://www.npr.org/blogs/pictureshow/2010/07/21/128674753/topeka

The American Transplant Foundation

August 3, 2010

For several years now I’ve had the pleasure of working with the good folks over at the American Transplant Foundation. For the past couple of years they have assembled Team Transplant to ride in the annual Subaru Elephant Rock Ride in Castle Rock, Colorado in order to raise awareness for their cause. They continue to be the largest group in the ride and plan to become larger and larger over time. Creating an audio slideshow is something I’ve done to add a little more character to the still images created from the ride. It’s been fun and eye opening as I learn about many of the donors lives through interviews and talking with them throughout the day. I’d really enjoy spending more time getting to know so many of them and help to get the word out more for organ donation in the future. For now, enjoy the short show I’ve done for them this year. Thanks for having a look.
