University of Denver Women’s Lacrosse

May 24, 2010

With rain and near freezing temperatures in the forecast for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Women’s semi-final game between the University of Denver and UC Davis, I prepared myself for some pretty miserable shooting conditions. As it turned out, the sun dipped below the large overhead storm clouds for the 6 p.m. start time and provided some of the most challenging and beautiful light I have ever had the opportunity to photograph. Here are a few favorites.

Colorado Avid Golfer at the Glenmoor Country Club

May 21, 2010

Local publication Colorado Avid Golfer has been providing us the opportunity to make images to accompany their articles for several years now. More recently I had the opportunity to meet and photograph Executive Chef Penelope Wong. As stated in the article, Wong is one of few females in the country to head the kitchen at a major country club. Thanks for letting us drop by Penny.

Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track

May 19, 2010

Track is fantastic. As a photographer I feel there are more opportunities to make different images with this sport. It becomes visual overload and my job is to sort through it all and make sense of the entire event. Different moments, angles, and lighting play a large role in the final outcome of the images. My goal was to provide a strong visual representation for our client, which is the Mountain West Conference based in Colorado Springs,CO.

Final Four Motion

May 11, 2010

This post will bring the Men’s Final Four to a close for the 2010 season. While at this event we were given the time and opportunity to produce moving pictures alongside of the traditional pictures we offer for the NCAA. Ryan Mckee, general manager at Rich Clarkson and Associates,LLC, created a stitched panorama with a specialized tripod head at center court. While Ryan was busy with his project I decided to produce a short stop-motion video of my own primarily focusing on the fans during the game. All in all, it was a fantastic learning experience for everyone involved. Enjoy.

Knoxville Rowing

May 6, 2010

I recently had a cover shoot down in Knoxville, Tennessee at the University of Tennessee for the quarterly NCAA Champion Magazine with a rower named Rachel Dooley.

As with a lot of shoots, we really wanted to photograph Dooley at sunrise or sunset. Luckily for me, rowers get to work early in the morning before class, so I was able to come away with a couple interesting shots that show off the nice early morning light.
